When the seasons change, we often want to redecorate our homes, but it’s rare that we have the money to completely redecorate everything. Instead of trying to overhaul your living room or your bedroom, consider just focusing on your entryway. Many people can change the overall look and feel of the interior of their homes simply by redecorating the entrance.

If you have the itch to redecorate, but you know it’s not a good time for you, financially, to try and overhaul an entire room in your home, consider just doing the bare minimum to give your entryway a new look. Here are six tips you can use to spruce up your entryway:

1. Use a runner

Right at the front door, consider adding a runner to make your entrance look longer. This will trick the human eye into thinking that the entrance to your home is much longer than it really is. This will give your front door and entryway a whole new look, and you’ll feel like you just accomplished a lot by simply adding one piece of furniture.

2. Paint the walls

Changing the color of the walls can really spruce up an entryway – it can make the entrance to your home look completely different! You might feel overwhelmed when it comes to picking out a new color, so I’d recommend gravitating towards warm colors. You want your guests to feel welcomed into your home, and painting the walls of your entryway can do just the trick!

3. Change the lighting

The first thing people usually notice when they come into your home is the light fixture that is in your entryway. If you haven’t changed the light fixture since you moved in, consider buying something new to spruce it up! You might want to consider putting in a light switch with a dimmer so you can get maximum use out of your new light fixture.

4. Add a place to sit

A small chair or a bench can really change the overall look of an entrance, and it’s incredibly convenient! As you’re leaving your house, you may want a place to sit down to put on your shoes, and adding a small chair or bench to your entryway could serve both the purpose of sprucing up your entrance and giving you a place to sit before leaving. When guests come into your home and there’s a spot to sit down, it seems to be a bit more inviting. Consider sprucing up your entry in this way.

5. Create a decorative wall display

Your entrance probably doesn’t have much on the walls, and if it does, it might be time for an upgrade. You’d be surprised how much just a new art display can change the whole look of a hallway or a foyer. There are all kinds of ways you can update the art in your entryway. Whether you add a mirror display, a mural, or a large piece of artwork, there are numerous ways to change the look of the entrance to your home without having to redecorate it entirely.

6. Minimize your trinkets

You might be in the habit of laying down your keys and taking off your shoes at the door, and maybe you’ve let quite the collection become established in your entryway. If you want to change the look of the entrance to your home, consider minimizing the things you keep at the door. If your entryway goes from cluttered to clean, you’ll feel like you’ve completely overhauled your entrance to your home!

Redecorating can get expensive, which is why we don’t all do it for every season of the year. However, if you’re in the mood for some kind of change, consider just focusing on sprucing up your entryway. There are several things you can do that won’t cost too much money and can completely change your home’s look. Because the entrance is the first thing your guests see, you’ll want them to be impressed with what they see.
